My name is Tom and I am an ordinary runner. I love parkrun and I enjoy signing up to different events amidst the usual family, work and life pressures.

The blog is called Mile 17 as that is where my first attempt at a marathon ended. It was London, it was 2007 and it was hot.

I was ok again after a couple of weeks, but that day taught me a lot of lessons.

Mile 17 changed the way that I think about running and the aim of this blog is to talk about running and anything vaguely related from a ordinary runner’s perspective.

Thank you for reading and I hope you find something of interest.

Thanks also for all the support of family, friends and colleagues, as well as from the communities of parkrun, ukrunchat and countless other  runners I have met before, during and after runs and events.

I am supporting the work of Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens here – for information on joining CRUK’s Sports team, click here. I work for CRUK but this blog contains my views, not theirs.
